Lot description
Oil on canvas.
The paint layer has some interventions and small areas of flaking. It comes with a report about the restoration work done by Alicia Garriga-Nogues in 2012, which explains that this portrait was painted over an older canvas, which probably had another painting on it, and that due to damage from a heat source, maybe a fire, the canvas was cut and the painting replaced.
It also includes a study/certification from Intitut Amatller d'Arte Hispánico, signed in 1980 by Dr Carlos González (registration no.: 80-31), which issues a certificate of authenticity, confirming the study, in 2012.
Provenance: Tarruella Collection, Barcelona.
Valón Collection, Barcelona.
57 x 46 cm; 77 x 65 cm (frame).
