150 x 204 cm; 162.5 x 218.5 cm (frame).In 1911, Carlos Vázquez presented ‘Las rosas tienen espinas’ (Roses Have Thorns) and ‘La hija pródiga’ (The Prodigal Daughter) at the Paris Salon. The German emperor awarded him the high honour of the Red Eagle in 1912, and in 1913 he was awarded the Gold Medal at the Paris Salon for 'Luna de miel en el valle de Ansó' (Honeymoon in the Ansó Valley), which was acquired by the hispanist Archer Milton Huntington for the Hispanic Society of America in New York, of which he became a member in 1914.
