Lot description
Lost-wax bronze.
Unique piece. Unsigned.
Classical depiction of the three classical mythological goddesses (Euphrosyne, Thalia and Aglae), daughters of Zeus and protectors of philosophy. This work was publicly exhibited for the first time at the exhibition held at Sala Parés in 1933. In 1923 Fenosa had already created an early version of the Three Graces, which is now at Museu Apel·les Fenosa (inv. No. 233). In 1933, he reworked the Greco-Latin motif to create this unique piece. Years later, in 1944 and 1959, he returned to the subject. Fenosa interpreted The Three Graces on four occasions, and in all of them he continued depicting primitive Greek art.
