Lot description

Ink on paper.
Signed, titled, dated and dedicated to Rémy de Gourmont.
With a pencil inscription, probably a quotation from one of Gourmont's writings.
This drawing was probably one of a series of illustrations that Ynglada published for various magazines, especially for "Iberia" (between May 1915 and December 1918) and "La Publicité". At the time, they were highly celebrated by celebrities such as Gourmont himself, to whom he dedicated this drawing shortly after his death that same year. The theme represented is perhaps a call for peace and love - in other words, an armistice -, referred to in the title and in the figure of the lady, who holds a palm in her hands and looks at the soldier.

33 x 27.5 cm; 47 x 41 cm (frame).
