Lot description

Limited and numbered facsimile edition of 2,998 copies, published by Artika, in collaboration with Van Gogh Museum from Amsterdam in 2015, in commemoration of the 125th anniversary of Van Gogh's death.
Numbered I to L for the first fifty, and from 1 to 2948 for the remaining.
It shows a reproduction of the complete collection of his sketchbooks kept in the museum. It consists of 4 of the artist's sketchbooks, with sketches made by him and 3 others from the early period, which are mainly of didactic value. Also included are 17 loose sheets from his not preserved noteboooks, where there are shown and landscapes of Paris and Antwerp.
This is all presented in a wooden case, with a reproduction of the famous painting of The Sunflowers on its cover. It also includes a book with studies and analyses of his life and work.
The edition also includes a lectern and a beech wood display stand.
